Roots are underground.
They fix the plant to the ground.
They absorb water and nutrients from the soil.
The stem supports the plant.
It carries water and nutrients to the leaves.
Trees have a thick, hard stem called a trunk.
Trunks are woody stems.
Trunks raise the leaves above the ground.
They enable the tree to reach the light and survive.
Plants make their own food (glucose) in their leaves.
Glucose (food) is produced through photosynthesis.
During photosynthesis plants leaves release oxygen.
Flowers are the reproductive part of (most) plants.
They have male and female reproductive organs.
Male reproductive organs | Stamens (produce pollen)
Female reproductive organs | Carpel (ovary contains ovules)
