Heterogeneous – Homogeneous
A mixture is something that contains two or more substances.
Mixtures can be heterogeneous or homogeneous.
In a heterogeneous mixture, we can see the individual substances.
The individual substances can be separated easily.
HETEROGENEOUS MIXTURES
paella – pizza – salad
fruit salad – sandwich
A paella is a heterogeneous mixture.
A pizza is a heterogeneous mixture.
A salad is a heterogeneous mixture.
A fruit salad is a heterogeneous mixture.
A sandwich is a heterogeneous mixture.
In a homogeneous mixture, we cannot see the individual substances.
The individual substances cannot be separated easily.
HOMOGENEOUS MIXTURES
mayonnaise – salt water – air
The mayonnaise is a homogeneous mixture.
The salt water is a homogeneous mixture.
The air is a homogeneous mixture.
The mayonnaise is a homogeneous mixture.
It contains oil, eggs and vinegar.
But we can’t see these individual ingredients.
The salt water in the sea is a homogeneous mixture.
It’s a mixture of water, salt, and other minerals.
But we can’t see these individual substances.
The air is a homogeneous mixture.
It is a mixture of oxygen, nitrogen, and other gases.
But we can’t see these individual substances.
